#Daves4Dave

In which David is endorsed by...other Davids!

Dear subscribers,

So, that’s us back at work for just one more day before the weekend - we know it’s tough. Let’s stay strong in our resolve: another sector is possible.

We have a bit of a running joke in UCU Commons about how we have three - at the last count - members called Dave. So, we thought it would be fun for them to do a joint video endorsement for David Harvie as Honorary Treasurer. In the short video above, we introduce you to two Daves: Dave Ashby, who is precariously employed at a large Russell Group institution, and Dave Hitchcock, who is on an open-ended contract at a small post-92 institution. While they are in very different employment situations in Higher Education, they both endorse David! (We’ve been looking forward to doing this - can you tell?)

David’s endorsements page is filling up, but there’s always room for more! If you’re called Dave (or anything else for that matter!) and want to write an endorsement for David, drop us a line at ucucommons@gmail.com.

A few more election-related points:

Our slate: all of the candidates running on the UCU Commons slate, as well as their election addresses, are available to read on our website.

Officer hustings: David and Emma took part in these a couple of weeks back and both of them did us absolutely proud. If you haven’t watched them yet, we strongly recommend you do so here.

Flyers: if you share UCU Commons’ values and aspirations for our union, you can help us promote our candidates in this election. Our flyers are available in both English and Welsh and can be downloaded from our website.

Emails: please consider emailing ten contacts asking them to vote in the NEC elections, and then ask them to email the same to ten of their contacts. It’s so important that our elected officers have the biggest possible mandate.

Replacement ballot link: if you need to order a replacement ballot for the NEC elections, you can do so here. The last day replacement ballot requests will usually be processed is Wednesday 22nd February.

Next week, look out for a special #Emmas4Emma post!

In solidarity,

UCU Commons
