Spotlight on...David Harvie

A series of posts showcasing our NEC and officer candidates

Dear subscribers,

Today is a David Harvie special! Dr David Harvie, of the University of Leeds, is the UCU Commons candidate for Honorary Treasurer.

In this long, captioned video, David explains:

  • The role of Honorary Treasurer

  • His own expertise in finance

  • The politics of the Honorary Treasurer role

  • His own politics

  • How UCU should spend its money

  • Where he sees post-16 education in 10 years’ time

David took part in the UCU officer hustings last Thursday, alongside Emma Battell Lowman, our candidate for Vice President, and both did us absolutely proud. You can watch the hustings in full here, and we strongly encourage you to do so.

David’s also been active on Twitter (@realDavidHarvie) recently. We think one of his threads, on branch- and national-level workplace organising as care-work, is particularly worth reading. If you’re tweeting to support David for Treasurer, please use the hashtag #David4Treasurer.

You can read more about David, his election statement and his endorsements on the David 4 Treasurer website.

One more thing: members can now request replacement NEC election ballots if they have not yet received them, using this online form. The last day replacement ballot requests will usually be dealt with is Wednesday 22nd February.

Please keep voting!

In solidarity,

UCU Commons
